Culture Shock is a tiny midwest shop in Rockford, IL to find all-things-unique inspired by music, arts and culture. Throughout the years, it has grown and evolved into the headquarters for locally and independently-made merchandise/clothing/books, funky gifts and accessories, and kitschy housewares.
They are now widely known as a community-focused hybrid of half-boutique and half-record store, carrying over 40 locally-owned companies. While carrying a large, diverse and well-curated selection of new/used vinyl records, the shop also boasts an impressive collection of vintage audio equipment.

Katie’s Cup Coffee Bar is a non-profit organization started in 2009 located in the heart of the Midtown District of Rockford, IL. The historic Lantow Building is the second greenest building in the County. We created the Katie’s Cup Book Store, Cars & Coffee – Rockford and the Rockford Midtown Market. We have a free Midtown Free Library, a monthly Book Club, and the Katie’s Cup Conversations series with speakers, community leaders and authors. We support local artists and musicians. Katie’s Cup specializes in fresh-made sandwiches, soups, and baked goods as well as a variety of coffee and tea options, frappes, smoothies, cold drinks, and gluten-free and vegetarian choices. Our independent bookstore highlights local issues, uplifting under-represented and under-served voices within our community, and showcases local authors and illustrators.
